Oracular Vision Part II

I have now finished Heretics of Dune and I am currently working on Chapterhouse Dune. These represent the 5th and 6th books of the Dune series. In the first part of this post I commented on Oracular Vision and how it may or may not bind us to future events that are witnessed in via the oracle. Now I want to discuss how people determine their own destiny. In Chapterhouse Dune, Frank Herbert writes, "Confine yourself to observing and you always miss the point of your life. The object can be stated this way: Live the best life you can. Life is a game whose rules you learn if you leap into it and play it to the hilt. Otherwise, you are caught off balance, continually surprised by the shifting play. Non-players often whine and complain that luck always passes them by. They refuse to see that they can create some of their own luck." I look at this and know implicitly that he refers to the concept that we our responsible for creating our own destinies. As long as we have the capacity to dream and envision, we can through sheer dogged determination create the future of our choice. How does this relate to Oracular vision? Maybe in a sense the oracle's vision only amplfies what is already there, thus bringing into focus a future path that an individual has subconsciously laid out for him or herself. This is something that was predetermined prior to the oracle seeing it. Therefore, seeing it through the oracle may not "lock" us into a future predetermined. Conversely, we are "locked" in because of our own personal decisions and the oracle only reveals it. Furthermore, because we are the sumtotal of our experiences at the time of the revelation we remain powerless to change it because afterall our future self is a direct function of who we are today.
